David Klein

David earned his California real estate broker’s license in 1982 [Cal DRE#00790730] and established a local, regional, national, and international real estate practice on behalf of start-ups to international institutional clients. His life science practice has included  real estate management for Roche Diagnostics division of Roche Holdings (NYSE:RHHBY) for North America and South America, real estate management for privately-owned Boehringer Ingelheim for the western United States (ranked 16th largest global pharma company by revenue), Avolonte Health, a life science division of Apple, and the publicly traded companies Prothena Biosciences (NAS:PRTA), and Shockwave Medical (NAS: SWAV) now a business unit of Johnson & Johnson in a 2024 acquisition.

David was also co-managing principal and real estate broker for San Jose BioCube, a life science chemistry and biology lab incubator with 2 facilities in Silicon Valley totaling 100,000sq. ft. serving the needs of over 50 life science start-up companies including lab facilities for Impossible Foods, stealth start-up life science business unit for Amazon, Aridis Pharmaceuticals (NAS: ARDS, OTC: ARDS), Lucira Health (NAS: LHDX, OTC: LHXDQ), battery research firm Ionobell, Inflammatix, among many others. David has also represented life science non-profit Medicines 360, whose mission it is to address the expense of the most effective forms of reversible contraception being out of reach for many women, especially the underserved and prioritizes the health of all women, to ensure equitable access to life-changing health innovations. Among other noteworthy clients, David represents the real estate portfolio for The Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland in Alameda and Contra Costa counties and Catholic Charities of the East Bay.

David’s background as both a broker and a California transactional real estate attorney, now inactive, [Cal BAR#92787] provides his clients with a unique depth of experience to seamlessly transition from marketplace advocacy to documentation advisory as a tireless partner for his clients. David is a LEED AP [Accredited Professional] for commercial interiors, a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors [SIOR] with dual [office & industrial] designation where he received SIOR’s Largest R&D Lease Award for 2017 & 2018, and holds a CoreNet Master of Corporate Real Estate certification.

Prior to joining Lee & Associates, David was Senior Vice President Occupancy Advisory at Transwestern, Executive Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield in both the Palo Alto and San Francisco offices where he received C&W’s Client Service Excellence Award, Senior Vice President at DTZ, and a Partner at Cassidy Turley BT Commercial where he was a BT Commercial Top 25 Producer in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010.
